Telecom Sector Issues and Perspectives

On 24thOctober, 2019 the Supreme Court upheld the definition of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) calculation as stipulated by the Department of Telecom (DoT). It has ordered telecom companies to pay up to Rs 92,641 crore dues to the DoT within three months calculated on the basis of the new definition of AGR.

Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR)

  • Telecom operators are required to pay licence fee and spectrum charges in the form of ‘revenue share’ to the Centre. The revenue amount used to calculate this revenue share is termed as the AGR.
