India and Chile Agree to Discuss CEPA

On 1st April 2025, India and Chile agreed to initiate discussions toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to boost trade and investment.
Key Highlights
- Trade Expansion: Both nations aim to upgrade their current Partial Trade Agreement into a Full Foreign Trade Agreement (FTA).
- Visa Facilitation: Chile will grant Multiple Entry Permits for Indian businesspersons to ease travel and trade.
- Bilateral Cooperation: Discussions covered sectors like health, defence, mining, agriculture, green energy, ICT, and education.
- Defence & Minerals: Leaders explored defence collaboration and agreed to cooperate in critical mineral exploration and processing.
- Investment Focus: Chile seeks Indian investment in ports, airports, railways, mining, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
