Ministry of Textiles Approves 12 Projects

On 12th November 2024, the Ministry of Textiles sanctioned 12 innovative research projects worth Rs 13.3 crore under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) to advance India's technical textiles sector.

- Focus Areas: These research projects span key technical areas such as geotextiles, sustainable and smart textiles, and composites, aiming to enhance India’s technological edge in the global textiles industry.
- Institutions: Approved proposals come from prestigious research institutions, including several IITs, NITs, and the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), showcasing strong collaboration between government and academia.
- NTTM’s Support to Initiatives: With these additions, the National Technical Textiles Mission now supports a total of 168 research initiatives, valued at approximately INR 509 crore, underscoring the government’s commitment to developing the technical textiles sector.
- New IPR Guidelines: As part of the mission, the Ministry introduced new IPR guidelines, encouraging greater industry participation to expand intellectual property assets in technical textiles.
