Launch of 25T Bollard Pull Tug, Ashva

On 3rd October 2024, Cmde Ajay Yadav launched the third 25T Bollard Pull Tug, Ashva, under the Make in India initiative at Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, Kolkata.

Part of Make in India Initiative: The Ashva is the third tug in a series of six being constructed under the government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and "Make in India" campaigns, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Operational Capabilities: Built under the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) rules, the tug will aid the Indian Navy's operational commitments by assisting ships and submarines in berthing, un-berthing, turning, and maneuvering in confined waters.
Additional Features: In addition to its primary functions, the Ashva is equipped for afloat firefighting and can conduct limited search and rescue operations, making it a versatile asset for the Indian Navy.
Strengthening Naval Support: The availability of these tugs will improve the Indian Navy's operational efficiency, particularly in managing naval movements and emergency situations at sea.
