PM Launches Compressed Bio-Gas Plants in Assam

On 2nd October 2024, Prime Minister (PM) inaugurated the construction of four compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants by Oil India Ltd in Assam, promoting sustainable energy on Swachh Bharat Diwas.

The plants will be located in Guwahati, Jorhat, Sivasagar, and Tinsukia, contributing to Assam's renewable energy sector.
This initiative is part of a nationwide groundbreaking ceremony for CBG plants aimed at creating a cleaner, eco-friendly energy landscape.
Oil India Ltd, in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, aims to set up 25 CBG plants by 2024-25 through public sector investments or private partnerships.
These CBG plants will convert agricultural waste and biomass into energy, reducing carbon emissions and supporting rural development.
The initiative aligns with India's broader goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency and reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
