‘Exercise AIKYA’

On 18th-19th September 2024, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in partnership with the Southern Command of the Indian Army, hosted a two-day national symposium, ‘Exercise AIKYA,’ focused on disaster management in Chennai.

• The symposium features simulations, technology discussions, and expert insights on various aspects of disaster management.
• The inaugural session was led by Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth, GOC-in-Chief of Southern Command, along with other distinguished officials including Lt. Gen. KaranBir Singh Brar and P. Amudha.
• The state will now supplement India Meteorological Department forecasts with insights from private weather bloggers to improve prediction accuracy.
