PM Announces Passing of Delhi Declaration

On 12th September 2024, the 2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation ended with the adoption of the Delhi Declaration, focusing on enhancing regional cooperation and fostering sustainable growth in the aviation sector.

  • The two-day conference was hosted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, India, in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 11-12, 2024.
  • Delegates from 29 countries and eight international organizations, including ICAO, participated in the event to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the Asia Pacific civil aviation sector.
  • The Delhi Declaration serves as a comprehensive framework aimed at boosting regional cooperation, addressing emerging challenges, and ensuring the sustainable development of the civil aviation sector in the region.
  • Prime Minister highlighted India's achievements in the aviation sector, emphasizing the inclusion of women, with India having 15% women pilots, significantly higher than the global average of 5%.
  • The Prime Minister also discussed the creation of an "International Buddhist Circuit" to connect all holy places related to Lord Buddha across Asia, which would enhance regional travel and benefit local economies.
