National Exit Test for Ayush Students

On 5th September 2024, Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, announced the implementation of the National Exit Test (NExT) for Ayush students from the 2021-22 academic session onward.
Key Points:
- Committee Recommendations: The decision was based on the recommendations of a committee led by Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur.
- Scope of NExT: NExT will apply to students enrolled under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) Acts of 2020, clarifying any ambiguities.
- Assessment Methods: The test will assess clinical competency and practical skills using problem-based examination methods like case scenarios, images, and videos.
- Internship Requirement: Completion of a one-year internship is required, and only after this can students who pass NExT register with state or national boards.
- Quality Assurance: The exam is designed to ensure the quality of Ayush education and uphold healthcare standards in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa.
