Indian Team Hoists Flag on Kilimanjaro

On 15th August, 2024, a seven-member team from Pune's Giripremi Adventure Foundation successfully hoisted the Indian flag on Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania near the Kenya border, rises to 19,341 feet (5,895 meters) and is one of the Seven Summits.
The expedition, led by Ankit Sohoni, included team members Shashikant Hiremath, Subhash Pawar, Mangesh Gokhale, Aniruddh Deshpande, Vaibhav Deshmukh, and Anjali Hazari.
The team completed an 11-hour climb and hoisted the Indian flag at 10:35 am, celebrating with the singing of the national anthem.
The successful summit and flag hoisting were a testament to the team’s dedication and preparation, marking a significant achievement in their mountaineering journey.
