Indian Team Hoists Flag on Kilimanjaro

On 15th August, 2024, a seven-member team from Pune's Giripremi Adventure Foundation successfully hoisted the Indian flag on Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.

  • Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania near the Kenya border, rises to 19,341 feet (5,895 meters) and is one of the Seven Summits.
  • The expedition, led by Ankit Sohoni, included team members Shashikant Hiremath, Subhash Pawar, Mangesh Gokhale, Aniruddh Deshpande, Vaibhav Deshmukh, and Anjali Hazari.
  • The team completed an 11-hour climb and hoisted the Indian flag at 10:35 am, celebrating with the singing of the national anthem.
  • The successful summit and flag hoisting were a testament to the team’s dedication and preparation, marking a significant achievement in their mountaineering journey.
