President Murmu Receives Fiji's Top Award

On 6th August 2024, President Droupadi Murmu was awarded the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the nation's highest civilian honor, on August 6 during her historic visit to the island country.

President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere bestowed the Companion of the Order of Fiji upon President Droupadi Murmu, marking a significant diplomatic recognition and strengthening ties between India and Fiji.
This prestigious award was also conferred on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023, acknowledging his global leadership and contributions.
During her visit, President Murmu emphasized India's commitment to collaborating with Fiji to create a more resilient and prosperous future for both nations.
The visit, which includes President Murmu's address to the Fijian Parliament, marks the first time an Indian head of state has visited Fiji.
Her visit to Fiji also included discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and witnessing the progress of India's 'Solarisation of Heads of State Residences' project, reflecting ongoing cooperative efforts between the two countries.
