India – Malaysia Co-operation in Palm Oil

The Malaysian Minister is on a visit to India from 16-19 July 2024 and to discuss opportunities to deepen the bilateral agriculture cooperation between India and Malaysia. Both countries decided to increase cooperation in the field of oil palm and other sectors.

Key Points

During a meeting between India's Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development and Malaysia's Minister of Plantations and Commodities, both countries agreed to enhance cooperation in the oil palm sector and other areas.
They expressed a desire to collaborate on the National Mission on Edible Oil - Oil Palm, addressed market access issues for agriculture and allied products, discussed formalizing agricultural cooperation, and explored the use of digital technology in plantations.
