Dr. K Radhakrishna

On June 22nd , 2024, K. Radhakrishnan, the former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman has been appointed to head the high-level committee of experts to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations.

Key Points

He served as the Chairman of Space Commission and Secretary, Department of Space, Government of India as well as the Chairman of ISRO Council (Chairman, ISRO) in 2009.
He served a stint of five years (2000-05) at the Ministry of Earth Sciences as Founding Director of Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).
He became the Regional coordinator in Indian Ocean for International Argo profiling float Project and later the first Project Director of the India’s Tsunami Early Warning System.
He was Vice Chairman of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (2001-05).
He has been bestowed with ‘Padma Bhushan’, the third-highest civilian award in India in 2014.
He was Chairman, BOM of Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (IIST) at Thiruvananthapuram (2009-14) and Chairman of BOG of IIEST at Shibpur (2014-17).
His biography, “My Odyssey: Memoirs of the Man behind the Mangalyaan Mission”, co-authored with Nilanjan Routh, was published in 2016.
