International Day of UN Peacekeepers

It is observed annually on May 29th, to honors the establishment of the UN's first peacekeeping mission, UNTSO, which was deployed in 1948

The theme of 2024 is "Fit for the Future: Building Better Together."
The theme recognizes the vital role of UN Peacekeeping in facilitating countries' transitions from conflict to peace over the span of 75 years, providing essential support.
Since 1948, over two million peacekeepers have served in 71 missions, aiding countries in their journey from conflict to peace. Presently, over 76,000 peacekeepers from more than 120 nations are engaged in 11 global operations.
