In May, 2024, Ambaji White Marble (AWM) has been granted a Geographical Indications (GI) tag by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and TradeMarks.

  • Mined in Ambaji of Danta Taluka in Banaskantha district, Gujarat, since the early medieval period.
  • AWM is renowned for its uniform and closely packed fine grains, setting a benchmark for quality.
  • It boasts maximum whiteness in the range of 95.80 – 96.30 percent and consists of various oxides.
  • GI tagging facilitated by the IP facilitation center of CII and Gujarat government bodies.
  • The GI tag secures legal rights and supports the livelihoods of around 200 MSMEs in the region.
