Exercise SHAKTI Commences in Meghalaya

On 13th May, 2024, the 7th India-France Joint Military Exercise SHAKTI commenced in Meghalaya, focusing on enhancing joint military capabilities through various tactical drills.

  • Exercise SHAKTI aims to enhance the joint military capabilities of both nations to conduct multi-domain operations in a sub-conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the UN Mandate.
  • The exercise will focus on operations in semi-urban and mountainous terrains, aiming to achieve high physical fitness, refine tactical drills, and share best practices.
  • Tactical drills will include responses to terrorist actions, establishing a Joint Command Post, setting up an Intelligence & Surveillance Centre, securing helipads, and conducting Special Heliborne Operations, among others.
  • Exercise SHAKTI will foster interoperability, camaraderie, and defense cooperation between the armed forces of India and France, enhancing bilateral relations.
