On 22nd April 2024, DRDO's DMSRDE unit achieved breakthrough with a lightweight bulletproof jacket capable of thwarting highest threat levels.

• Protection Against High-Caliber Threats: The bulletproof jacket is designed to withstand 7.62 x 54 R API ammunition, meeting level 6 of BIS 17051 standards.
• Successful Testing: Recent tests conducted at TBRL, Chandigarh confirm the jacket's effectiveness against sniper rounds, with the front hard armour panel (HAP) capable of withstanding multiple hits.
